The Exit Poems [Iron and Fire and No Heroes]
Submitted by Dennis Siluk on Sat, 01/26/2008 - 20:18.The Exit Poems
[And Socrates]
Iron and Fire
Iron can be soften by fire
grows hard in the cold;
and all the gates therein
are, as it was, closed again.
So, often are those misled?
by luxury and pride,
who push humility aside:
thus, redemption their vanity
and perfection their virtue
and in the end, they all collided.

My Final Defeat - Fixed Competition
Submitted by Danielle Hollister on Fri, 12/28/2007 - 05:56.She probably can't remember
and I know I can never forget...
the first time I saw her like that
I was only nine years-old
not naive by any stretch
having seen my share of tragedy-
my parent's bitter battles in my first five years of life
then the inevitable end of their marriage
but not before 700 days of devastation called divorce
that destroyed dreams and deeply damaged hearts
I had no idea life could get worse...
But it did -
Since Youve Been Gone...
Submitted by Danielle Hollister on Fri, 12/28/2007 - 05:56.My life has changed
in so so many ways
It seems to always be
in a state of disarray...
Without you here
by my side
to hold my hand
and be my guide...
I feel like I'm lost...
wandering through each day
waiting and hoping and praying
that you come to me in some way....
I need you to tell me
that it everything will be okay...
If anyone else is saying it
I never hear them on any day...
For My Mother
Submitted by Fran Watson on Fri, 12/28/2007 - 05:56.I cannot bear to think
of when you will be gone.
I do not understand
how I will get along.
Your love has been my resting place,
the place that I would go,
no matter what,
no matter where
your love would always flow.
A simple call
a quick hello,
Where have you been?
What do you know?
Just to touch base
and share a laugh
a smile or two,
a joke or gaffe.
What will I do when you are gone?
Who will I call?
There is no other quite like you
no other love that's half as true.
Ocean Heal Me
Submitted by Susan Bacon on Fri, 12/28/2007 - 05:56.Ocean Heal Me
Ocean heal my wounds
Let your waves curl and foam on my body
Wash away blood, heal scars
Ocean renew me with your power
As unceasingly you roll
Giving strength that's been drained
Ocean keep me warm
Wrap me in your brine
Caress me with your tides
Ocean disperse my tears
As they flow in you
I cleanse my soul
Ocean let me grow in your depths
Color me vibrant blue, coral, green
Clear = revitalized
Ive Learned
Submitted by Danielle Hollister on Fri, 12/28/2007 - 05:56.You cannot make someone love you. All you can do is be someone who can be loved. The rest is up to them.
No matter how much I care, some people just don't care back.
It takes years to build up trust, and only seconds to destroy it.
It's not what you have - it's who you have in your life that counts.
You can do something in an instant that will give you heartache for life.
It's taken me a long time to become the person I want to be. You should always leave loved ones with loving words - It may be the last time you see them.
Barriers
Submitted by Fran Watson on Fri, 12/28/2007 - 05:56.There are many times I set up
barriers and walls,
invisible unless you come too close,
And then you hit them.
You wonder what happened.
You didn't know,
I can't let you in.
I've lost the key to open the doors
in the walls, and
I don't know how
To take them down.

Find the Magic
Submitted by Susan Bacon on Fri, 12/28/2007 - 05:56.FIND the MAGIC
Find the Magic
As you release old bondage
Come out of hiding
And see the stars
Find the Magic
As you expose the pain
Let the tears flow
And find beauty in your body
Find the Magic
As you scream from the beating
Run from the threats
And feel the warmth of a hug
Find the Magic
As the little girl is silenced
Told she is too smart for her own good
And she finds her place of honor as she speaks her mind
Find the Magic
As the ghosts creep into dream
Haunt your daily life
And you meet them at the crossroads and move on
My hero, my best friend, my Grannio (a.k.a my Grandmother)
Submitted by Danielle Hollister on Fri, 12/28/2007 - 05:56.She raised me like I was her own daughter from the day I was born 32 years ago.
She loved me like nobody else has ever loved me in my life.
She stood by through the most difficult days Ive ever known.
She showed me more unconditional love and support than Ive ever imagined.
She taught me how to live, how to love, how to be a lady, how to be a mommy and how to survive.
For 78 years, she had always been as healthy and stubborn as a mule.
